Thanks for participating in Boxes of Love!

With your help we were able to sponsor 1600 Boxes of Love so as many as 9600 people could hear the gospel message from a caring church!

Last week Deacon Ferguson followed up with Shirley, a 70-year-old Boxes of Love recipient. After Deacon Ferguson shared the gospel, Shirley placed her faith in Jesus Christ! Boxes of Love are still bearing eternal fruit!

Would You Please Give a Year-End Gift?

Dear Friend,

Twenty-two years ago, Erik was only 16 years old and a "good kid" growing up in Roseland.  He stayed out of trouble and got average grades.  He heard about Jesus at the church he regularly attended and at the Agape Center.  But he had not accepted Jesus into his life.

And then something changed.  “It was the second Sunday in February 1991,” Erik says.  “I’ll never forget it because my legs were like two tons of bricks.  It wasn’t until the Holy Spirit convicted me of my sin that I finally accepted Jesus.”

Erik has stayed involved at the Agape Center ever since.  Staff members encouraged him to persevere in school.  He learned practical things, like how to do laundry and save money.  As he grew older, he began to work with the younger teens.

Most importantly, though, Erik grew spiritually.  How would Erik’s life be different if the Agape Center was not in the community?  "A different question is 'how would my life be if the people at the Center weren't in my life?’” Erik says.  The one word that comes to his mind is “undisciplined.”

Erik not only finished college, but went on to get a Master's Degree in Education.  Today, he is a high school English teacher in a Chicago public school.  Over the years, Erik has worked with the teens at the Agape Center.  And earlier last month, Erik helped train over 90 of our partner ministries how to effectively share the gospel with others!

Twenty-two years invested in one life that is now influencing young people all across the city and here in Roseland . . .

For 32 years, God has provided for us to be here on the Southside of Chicago.  Thanks to the prayers and faithful support of friends like you, we are able to invest in young people like Erik.  By God's grace, we will be here for many more years to come, sowing seeds of the gospel and walking with youth and adults in our community - watching them grow into leaders.

As we approach the close of another year, we need to raise $50,000.  Will you prayerfully consider a special year-end gift to help us reach this goal?  Any amount you give will help us maintain an active presence in the lives of young people. You can click here to make your gift.

We are grateful to the Lord for your faithful investments of prayer and financial support.  With economic uncertainty affecting so many people, we are humbled by your sacrificial gifts for our ministry.  On behalf of all who have heard of God’s love through our work – and for those who will hear in the year ahead – thank you!

Sincerely yours,

Marc Henkel & Brad Harry
